A Camillian at the Health-Care Conference on ‘Faith and Medicine: Prayer and Healing’

U.N.I.T.A.L.S.I. (the Italian Nation Union of Transport for Sick People to Lourdes and International Sanctuaries), on the one hundred and tenth anniversary of the association, is organising for 26 September in Lourdes, at the hemicycle at 14.30, a health-care conference on ‘Faith and Medicine: Prayer and Healing’.
This conference will witness the participation of Father Luciano Sandrin, a Camillian, a full professor at the Camillianum, the International Institute for the Theology of Pastoral Vare in Health. Father Sandrin, a lecturer on the psychology of health and illness and on the theology of pastoral care in health, as well as being the author of various volumes on the complex relationship between sick people and those who care for them, will give a paper entitled ‘The Meaning of Healing in the Believer: a Physical Event or an Experience of the Person?’
The traditional pilgrimage to Lourdes (22-28 September) will thus also be an opportunity to reflect on the role of prayer and of faith in the field of illness and in the healing process.
