Following the end of the formal procedures that mark the beginning of each day (approval of the minutes of the previous day), the agenda was then addressed. Visiting the members of the General Chapter, by whom he was welcomed with very warm feelings, was Msgr. Prosper Kontiebo, a Camillian bishop in Burkina Faso, who wanted to take part in this session of the deliberations.
The agenda had as the first contribution that of the Postulator, Fr. Luigi Secchi. Of especial interest was his report on the recognition of the relics of the body of St. Camillus and the successive relocations of the relics of the saint, in particular his heart and body. The assembly was also informed about the state of the ‘open’ causes regarding brothers, sisters and benefactors: the cleric Nicola D’Onofrio, Br. Ettore Boschini, Maria Aristea Ceccarelli and Germana Sommaruga.
Fr. A. Tarkowski, the general financial administrator, and Dr. Nicola di Benedetto, provided an interesting report on the economic situation of the Curia and the Order. It was so stimulating that it was followed by numerous and interesting contributions seeking clarifications.
Fr. Efisio Locci, the president and legal representative of the NGO ‘Health and Development’, which has by now reached the first decade of its activities, offered a description of its structure and activities. This is an instrument that the Order created to support its activities, above all in mission and primarily in the field of development.
At the end of a demanding day, Fr. Aristelo Miranda, the international coordinator of the Camillian Task Force (CTF), reported on the activities of his office. Deduced from this was a constant journey of growth, such as to have by now involved many Camillian religious and to have become, in fact, a new form of living the Camillian ministry.
