The Sick at the Center on the World Day of the Sick in Pakistan

(Okara, Pakistan) The Camillian Lay Family and St. Camillus Charismatic Prayer group celebrated the world day of the sick in the Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church, Chak 6/4-L, Rehmpur, Okara. This parish belongs to the Faisalabad Diocese.

The celebration took off with the Healing Mass presided by Fr. Mushtaq Anjum, MI (a camillian priest) and con-celebrated by Fr. Samson Peter (Parish Priest) and Fr. Samuel Saeed. Fr. Mushtaq underlined the responsibility of the family in taking care of the sick; the sick were and continue to be the priority of Christ Jesus. Therefore, we as baptized followers of Christ, as lay  Camillians and as healthcare workers should follow Christ Jesus mandate “to heal the sick and preach the Gospel.” The celebration of the World Day of the Sick calls us Christians to become “Good Samaritans” and take care of the sick; it equally calls the healthcare workers to act like Christ and become instruments of healing and good health to those entrusted to their care. 

In this Year of Faith, we must practice our faith in line with World Day of the Sick. Jesus said, “I was sick and you visited Me.” (Matthew 25:36). This is our Faith that we serve Christ in serving the sick. Hence, a call to live this faith and our baptismal vows in our lives. After the Mass, the Lay Camillian groups visited and prayed over the sick people in their houses and brought Holy Communion to them. Met a very poor man who had heart complications; the LCF members met together and agreed to find some help for him and assist him through various ways. We pray that he will have successful open heart by-pass surgery. The Camillians continue follow the example of St. Camillus, the Patron Saint of the sick and healthcare workers as they listen to the words of Good Samaritan “Go and Do likewise.” (Lk 10:37)

I malati, protagonisti nella Giornata Mondiale del Malato in Pakistan

Okara, Pakistan – La Famiglia Camilliana Laica e il Gruppo carismatico di preghiera S. Camillo hanno celebrato la Giornata Mondiale del Malato nella Chiesa Cattolica di Nostra Signora della Pietà, Chak 6/4-L, Rehmpur, Okara. Questa parrocchia appartiene alla Diocesi di Faisalabad.

La celebrazione è cominciata con la Messa di Guarigione presieduta da P. Mushtaq Anjum, MI, camilliano, e concelebrata da P. Samson Peter (Parroco) e da P. Samuel Seed. P. Mushtaq ha sottolineato che è responsabilità della famiglia prendersi cura dei malati; i malati erano e continuano ad essere la priorità di Gesù Cristo. Per questo noi, come battezzati e seguaci di Cristo, come laici camilliani e operatori della salute, dobbiamo realizzare il comando di Gesù Cristo di “guarire i malati e predicare il vangelo”. La celebrazione della Giornata Mondiale del Malato chiama noi cristiani a divenire “buoni samaritani” e prenderci cura dei malati. Allo stesso modo chiama gli operatori sanitari ad operare come Cristo e diventare strumenti di guarigione e buona salute per quelli che sono affidati alle loro cure.

In questo Anno della Fede, dobbiamo praticare la nostra fede in linea con la Giornata Mondiale del Malato. Gesù ha detto: “Ero ammalato e sei venuto a visitarmi” (Mt 25,36). Questa è la nostra fede: servire Cristo nel servizio dei malati. Quindi, una chiamata a vivere la nostra fede e le nostre promesse battesimali nella nostra vita. Dopo la Messa i gruppi camilliani laici hanno visitato e pregato per i malati, nelle loro case, e portato loro la Santa Comunione. Hanno fatto visita a un uomo molto povero che aveva una complicazione cardiaca. I membri della famiglia camilliana laica si sono riuniti e hanno deciso di fare qualcosa per lui e portargli assistenza in diversi modi. Preghiamo perché la sua operazione di by-pass abbia successo. I Camilliani continuano a seguire l’esempio di S. Camillo, il patrono dei malati e degli operatori sanitari, mentre cercano di mettere in pratica le parole del Buon Samaritano: “Va’, e fa’ anche tu lo stesso” (Lk 10:37).
