‘Mother’ is an appellation well applied to Mother Maria Giuseppina Vannini who, in her work as the teacher and guide of the Institute of the Daughters of St. Camillus, which she founded, encouraged a spirit of fraternal communion and always expressed a great tenderness towards her ‘daughters’ which was accompanied by an impassioned and joyous drive to their formation.

On 16 October the Church celebrates the liturgical feast day of the Blessed Giuseppina Vannini: we join ourselves to it to ask for her intercession and that of Camillian men and women saints for the fecundity of our religious institutes and the welfare and health of the sick people entrusted to us.

Lord Jesus, who manifested your wisdom
In the folly of the cross and revealed the immensity of your love
In the mystery of the Redemption,
We thank you for filling with the riches of the gifts of your Spirit
The heart of the Blessed Giuseppina Vannini.
In following the way of the Cross
She united an ardent love for you with
An impassioned predilection for her sick and marginalised brethren.
In the imitation of St. Camillus she recognised you,
Contemplated you, and with the heart of a mother served you, in the suffering,
Becoming a model for her daughters and whoever wants to dedicate themselves
To works of corporeal and spiritual mercy.
Ensure, O Lord, that through living in the light of her examples
We can come to be at her side in the beatitude of your Kingdom.
You who live and reign for ever and ever.
