On Saturday 17 May the new Superior General of the Daughters of St. Camillus, Mother Zélia Andrighetti, together with a large group of sisters of the General Chapter, visited the generalate house of the Camillians in Rome.
To welcome the members of the General Chapter were the Superior of the community and the general councillor for formation, Father Hubert Goudjinou, and Father Alberto Marques de Sousa, the general councillor for ministry and the secretary general.
The meeting began with a moment of prayer celebrated in the Church of St. Mary Magdalene, in front of the urn which contains the mortal remains of St. Camillus. Father Alberto, who also comes from Brazil like Mother Zélia, sung a Brazilian song as a tribute to her and to commemorate their long-standing friendship.
The visit continued with visits to the sacristy of the church, the Chapter Hall and other rooms of the museum dedicated to St. Camillus.
A very emotional moment was experienced in the Cubiculum (the place where St. Camillus died on 14 July 1614) where in religious silent prayer the death of the saint was remembered under the guidance of Brother Carlo Mangione, the coordinator of the initiatives for the fourth centenary.
At the end, Brother Carlo made an explicit request to the new Superior to celebrate the moment of the death of St. Camillus in all the communities of the Daughters of St. Camillus in the world, on14 July at 21:30, the time of the death of the saint.
The visit of the sisters of the General Chapter ended with a moment of fraternity in the refectory of the community; before leaving, all those who had made the visit received some St. Camillus gadgets produced for the fourth centenary.
‘How wonderful it is, how pleasant, for God’s people to live together in harmony’, reads Psalm 133: the pilgrimage of the Daughters of St. Camillus, which took place under the banner of joyous and affectionate fraternity with the Camilian religious, confirms this.
