After touching and moving many men and women in various countries of the world, in small and large urban centres connected with the presence and the service to the sick of the Camillians, on Saturday 6 September the heart of Camillus arrived at the Sanctuary of our Lady of the Hill of Lenola (Latina). This was in response to an invitation of the parish priest and rector, Don Adriano, For St. Camillus this seemed almost a return home: Lenola has the urban appearance in its features of Bucchianico! It is a small inhabited town set around the parish church and near to the sanctuary.
I will not dwell upon how the events unfolded but, rather, upon the details that I observed and in an extemporary way: in front of the little temple with the heart of Camillus I saw some tears being shed, an almost timorous movement of lips which certainly implored a grace, which expressed a heavy cross being borne or perhaps expressed thanks for some joy in that person’s life. I saw the steady hand of a mother which pointed out the heart of Camillus to a child she was holding by the hand; I saw a kiss waved towards the reliquary; I saw a devout kiss placed upon a little picture of Camillus…
I saw the devotion and felt the devout participation of the sick, above all in receiving the sacrament of the sacrament of anointing; I saw the delicacy of men and women who accompanied and supported their elderly and sick relatives…
I saw this and I was moved!
