The journey of the relic of the heart of St. Camillus continues: on the occasion of the feast day of Our Lady of Health, on 18-21 September it visited St. Mary’s Parish in Trivio, Velletri.
Velletri was one of the first cities where devotion to Our Lady of Health spread most quickly and to such an extent that a Pious Union, with the official title ‘of the Blessed Virgin of Health, of St. Joseph the Spouse of the Most Holy Mother of God and of St. Camillus de Lellis’, created with the purpose of increasing and spreading such devotion was instituted by the then parish priest of St. Mary’s Parish in Trivio, Don Giuseppe Morza, and was erected by canon law by a decree of the Suffragan Bishop and General Vicar on 24 January 1864. A few months later Pius IX, by his Brief of 19 July 1864, granted to all those who belonged to this Pious Union of Velletri the same indulgences that had already been granted to the Pious Union of the Church of St. Mary Magdalene.
The visit of the relic of the heart of St. Camillus was an occasion for a relaunching of the Confraternity which this year is celebrating the one hundred and fiftieth anniversary of its original constitution.
