The archdiocese of Manfredonia-Vieste-San Giovanni Rotondo, with the coordination of the Diocesan Office for Pastoral Care in Health and the patronage of the Italian Bishops’ Conference, has activated for the year 2014 as well a formation event in the socio/health-care field. This course is for workers in pastoral care and all the professionals of the sector, and seeks to promote ethical-pastoral sensitisation as regards services for the person. Eighteen workshops, of three hours each, are envisaged which will be held on every Wednesday afternoon from 16.00 to 19.00, from January to June 2014, at the ‘Valentino Vailati’ Auditorium of Manfredonia (FG). The speakers at these meetings will be the heads of health-care, educational and social movements; religious; directors; medical doctors; managers in the sector; and university lecturers. The participants will also be able to engage in knowledge-gathering experience in the field in a number of social-care, health-care and educational institutions. This course of formation will take place in cooperation with the Irccs ‘Casa sollievo della sofferenza’ of San Giovanni Rotondo and with the patronage of the general curia of the Order of the Ministers of the Sick (Camillians). At the inauguration, which is envisaged for Wednesday 15 January 2014 at 17.30 at the ‘Valentino Vailati’ Auditorium of Manfredonia, there will be Don Carmine Arice, the national director for pastoral care in health of the Italian Bishops’ Conference. This formation event of the archdiocese of Manfredonia-Vieste-San Giovanni Rotondo acquires a special relevance in the light of the celebrations for the fourth centenary of the death of St. Camillus de Lellis, an authentic ‘reformer’ of health care.
