Dear Confreres and Members of the Great Camillian Family,
We, the representatives of the Order of the Ministers of the Infirm, during the meeting held in Rome on 12 to 15 January 2014, in an atmosphere of prayer, dialogue and fraternal discussion, have reflected on the facts in which our Superior General was involved. At the end of the meeting, we wish to inform you that we have unanimously decided that it is desirable to hold a new General Chapter.
In view of the above, the present Superior General – who is now put under house arrest since January 16, 2014 – has to resign. For this reason, we wrote an appeal to Fr. Renato, signed by all of us without any prejudice to the person, asking his resignation in order for justice to take its course easily, allow the Order to continue freely its journey, and for the good of the Church.
Moreover, we wish to express our sincere gratitude to the Holy Father, who from the very beginning, through his representatives in the Sacred Congregation for Religious, offered his closeness, support and advice to us to overcome as soon as possible this critical situation.
We thank you for your solidarity and fervent prayers. We are certain that St. Camillus will protect his Institute, particularly in the course of this Camillian Jubilee Year.
Receive our sincere and fraternal regards accompanied by our sentiments of deep gratitude.
The General Consulta, the Major Superiors and Delegates of the Order of the Ministers of the Infirm
