Germana Sommaruga

Today, 20 October, at 11.00, at the Church of S. Giovanni in Fonte, His Excellency Msgr. Giuseppe Zenti, the Bishop of Verona, will preside over the closure of the diocesan process for the beatification and canonisation of Germana Sommaruga, the Founder of the Secular Institute of Women Missionaries of the Sick ‘Christ the Hope’.

We want to remember this ‘ordinary woman’, as she loved to define herself, in a simple way.

Germana

– Was faithful to her word given:

To God, in following the message of mercy with Camillus de Lellis;

To people, in order to infuse trust and hope;

To her own conscience illumined by the Word of God.

– Was action in silence:

Love does not need loudspeakers to communicate,

A look, a caress, is sufficient …

– Was concern and serene care for anybody who turned to her for advice, some words, a gesture…

In her hands every problem

Dissolved like snow in the sun,

With a delicacy and sensitivity

That discovered and made discovered the wonderful resources

Hidden in the heart of each person that she met.
