The Camillian dream began, in 2001, with the arrival of late Fr. Rino Metrini, MI in Pakistan. Since then small seeds of Camillian faith are down here and there. One such seeds fell in a fertile ground in Chak 49, Okara. The community and the parish priest Fr. Khalid Mukhtar dreamt too of a beautiful sanctuary. God works in mysterious ways. To accomplish His works, God sends his people. On September 16, 2018, Fr. Luigi Galvani, MI laid the foundation stone of St Camillus Church, in the presence of late Fr. Amato Aldino, OP, Fr. Mushtaq Anjum, MI, fr. Khalid Mukhtar, FTL and Holy Family Sisters and a huge number of the faithful.
With great help from various local and international sources, the construction of St Camillus Church was completed.
On the eve of the Feast of birthday of Mother Mary, September 7, 2021, in the presence of great number of the clergy, religious and faithful, His Excellency Dr Bishop Indrias Rehmat, Bishop of Faisalabad blessed and consecrated the first St. Camillus Church in Pakistan.
On this occasion, His Excellency Dr Bishop Indrias Rehmat conferred the Sacrament of Confirmation to more than a hundred children.
Fr. Mushtaq Anjum, MI expressed his gratitude to God, to Fr Khalid, to the faithful and to His Excellency Dr Bishop Indrias Rehmat for such a privilege and honor to the Order of the Ministers of the Infirm- Camillians as he declared the name of the Church. He prayed that all those who would come with faith seeking healing through the intercessions of St Camillus may be healed. Viva San Camilo!!!
