Camillians in Spain: Promoting Humanization in Care and Health in Chile

The Provincial Superior of Camillian Religious in Spain, José Carlos Bermejo, participated in several training activities on June 17 and 18 in Santiago, Chile, focused on humanization in care and health. Silva Henríquez University was the main setting for these events, in collaboration with the Chilean Interdisciplinary Society of Sociomedical Humanization (SOCHIIS). During these days, José Carlos had the opportunity to visit the community of Camillian Religious present in this country.

On Monday, June 17, Bermejo lectured in four preconference courses. In the morning, he spoke on the topics such as: “Digital Bereavement”, “The St. Camillus Center as a Model of Humanization”. In the afternoon, he spoke on “The Work of Bereavement” and on “Professional Competence for Training in Humanization” at Silva Henríquez University.

On Tuesday, June 18, Bermejo was the keynote speaker at the conference at the University Silva Henríquez, presenting a paper on humanization in health. Afterwards, he visited the university, participated in a meeting with the rector and conducted a seminar with students and faculty on “Humanization and Professional Competence.”

These activities reflect the commitment of the Camillian Religious in Spain and the participating Chilean institutions in improving the quality of care through humanization in the socio-health field.
