Christine Sunderland, an American writer, will publish in May her fifth novel whose title is The Magdalene Mystery. For this reason she came to have a final look inside our Church of St. Mary Magdalene in Rome so as to finish her notes. Fr. Paolo Guarise accompanied her during her visit and also had her visit the cubiculum of St. Camillus, the museum, and the urn containing the holy relics of our Founder.
In writing her book, Christine Sunderland has had as her aim the rehabilitation – through the literary form of a novel – of the figure of Mary Magdalene, given that another novel, the well-known The Da Vinci Code by Dan Brown, portrayed her in a distorted and even sacrilegious way.
Here below is the account, in English, that Christine Sunderland wrote of her brief but intense visit to our Church of St. Mary Magdalene on 20 April last. Other information on her can be obtained from her blog: www.ChristineSunderland.com
