On January 31st 2013, Fr. Renato Salvatore announced the 57th General Chapter of the Order. In the Decree, as well as the names of the participants and the elected to represent the Provinces, Vice Provinces and Delegations of the Order, the purposes of the meeting are given.
They are essentially related to the ordinary life of the Order through the election of its governing body (General Council), to the revision of the device that regulates its life (Constitution and General Provisions) and to the planning of its future in an era of rapid and, sometimes, unexpected changes (Camillian Project).
The General Chapter is a moment of grace in the life of the Order, as evidenced by the fraternity that lives in it and exercises common responsibility. Everybody, et various levels, is called to take charge of the plant of Saint Camillus so that it can thrive and grow up to realize the blessings that the Founder has poured on his “present and future” followers. It is even more significant this year in which we will see the opening of the Jubilee Year to commemorate the 400th anniversary of the death of Saint Camillus.
What better gift to the Founder than rethinking and repositioning the Order in line with new and eternal challenges at the same time?
The need for health will never fail and the Order, through the General Chapter, is called to take charge of it, exercising the prophecy which belongs to the Consecrated Life.
In preparation for the General Chapter, therefore, everyone might contribute through prayer and study and, subsequently, with the free acceptance of the taken decisions.
