Prot.n.1/2025
Rome, 01 January 2025
“If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creature; the old has passed away,
behold, the new has come” (2 Corinthians 5:17)
Dear brothers and sisters,
with a grateful and hopeful heart, we welcome the arrival of 2025, a year that has special significance for us. It is a year of grace, illuminated by two significant events: Jubilee of the Church and the 450th anniversary of the conversion of St. Camillus. These moments of faith invite us to renew our spiritual journey and our commitment to service as pilgrims of hope, keeping our gaze fixed on Jesus, “the Way, the Truth and the Life” (Jn. 14:6). In Him we find our goal, our strength and the source of all hope.
St. Camillus, conquered by the love of Christ (cf. Phil. 3:12), experienced a radical conversion that transformed every aspect of his life. Following his example, we are called to make intimacy with Christ the center of our existence: “Our entire religious life must be permeated by the friendship of God, so that we may know how to be ministers of Christ’s love towards the sick” (C. 13). This deep relationship with Jesus is the foundation of our service. Our every act of care and assistance must be rooted in a living experience of the mystery of Christ.
Our earthly pilgrimage requires trust and courage in following God’s plans, continually opening our hearts to the action of the Holy Spirit. As Camillians, we are called to walk in faith, certain that we “can do all things in Him who strengthens” us (Phil. 4:13). We thus come to live our vocation with the attitude of a pilgrim: praising God in all circumstances and witnessing to His love with our lives. St. Paul encourages us with these words, “Rejoice always, pray constantly, give thanks in all circumstances” (1 Thess 5:16-18).
With a heart full of gratitude and confidence, let us embrace 2025 as a precious gift, an opportunity to grow in our vocation and mission. May the love of Christ continue to conquer our hearts and make us instruments of hope and healing in the world.
I wish that the New Year be full of blessings for all.
With fraternal affection and prayer,
Fr. Pedro Tramontin
Superior General
